D’Souza Lab presents research at annual HEI research day
Members of the D’Souza Lab attended the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact’s (HEI) annual Research Day this spring. The event was the first in-person Research Day in more than two years.
Considered the department’s flagship event and one of the largest research showcases within the Faculty of Health Sciences, Research Day serves as a forum for the HEI community to celebrate the timely and impactful health research happening across the department.
The event featured more than 100 oral and research poster presentations, including three posters created by members of the D’Souza Lab and focused on obstetrics and gynecology research.
Postdoctoral fellow Rebecca Seymour’s poster focused on the feasibility of establishing a Canadian Obstetric Survey System, or CanOSS, for Severe Maternal Morbidity.
Master’s student Tegwende Seedu’s research focuses on understanding maternal morbidity from the perspectives of women and people with pregnancy experience.
Rohan D’Souza presented a scoping review on how pregnancy-associated maternal morbidity is conceptualized in research studies Rohan D’Souza presented a scoping review on how on behalf of medical students Gauri Gupta (McMaster) and Sherry Feldman (University of Ottawa).
“Research Day is where we – conscientious and forward-thinking students and researchers – are presented with very real opportunities to translate meaningful ideas into concrete outcomes,” said Alfonso Iorio, chair of HEI, during his opening remarks.
“By working together to share ideas and produce the best available health research evidence, we give substance to our commitment to achieving impact at all levels within, as well as across, health systems, and further establish HEI as a global research powerhouse.”
